Future Lawyers of America.

Impacting my community
Future Lawyers of America (FLA) is exactly as it sounds: a community organization of high school students with any degree of interest in a future career in law. Though we encourage our members to engage with unfamiliar legal concepts, we recognize that vocational plans can change; our ultimate goal is to inspire leaders who are dedicated to solving complex social issues with practical solutions that adhere to the principles of justice, integrity, and activism.

Similar to the Boy Scouts of America, my vision for Future Lawyers of America is to be an organization of chapters that are grounded in local communities. To a high schooler, a career in law can appear elusive and distant, but my dream is to diminish this gap between aspirations and reality. By grounding the club in the community, it will connect local legal professionals with local high school students. In addition to access to a network of legal professionals, my goal is also to provide members with opportunities for internships, academic scholarships, and any other resources that could assist a young person’s journey to law school and beyond. Membership will also entail attendance at biweekly meetings to practice public speaking and writing skills. The meetings will also host guest speakers who can share their experience in practicing law.
Future Lawyers of America is a response to the political unrest experienced by many American communities and will be a beacon of hope for future problem solvers. Membership will be sustained by a monthly fee which will mostly fund operational costs. My customers will include highly-motivated high school students who want to become aware of the legal community around them. Because such an idea has never seen fruition on the scale at which I’m proposing, membership in this career-oriented club is an opportunity that not many will want to pass up. My competition is other career-oriented clubs, but I can rise above this competition by achieving endorsements from local governments and verbal recommendations among high school communities.
