Future Lawyers of America.

Creating an Action Plan
Founded in 2021 by Donoven McAlister, Future Lawyers of America is a non-partisan, community organization dedicated to uniting the world's future problem solvers. It is a platform intended for neighborly interaction between highly-motivated high school students and legal professionals. The key stakeholders include the legal-interested youth of my local community and the legal professionals who live or practice in my community.

Membership entails attendance at our biweekly meetings, as well as access to our ever-expanding network of people and resources. The short term goals for membership is to reach 20 youth members by the end of summer 2021 and expand the legal network to 3 partner firms by that same time.

Beginning with its first chapter in Redondo Beach, FLA strives to build a community of enthusiastic young adults with an early interest in practicing law. Group activities will include (but are not limited to) practicing public speaking, sharing interesting articles, hosting professional guest speakers, or participating in community service opportunities. The long term goals for the club are to expand to more than one chapter by the end of 2022 and to generate enough revenue to hire a blog writer and a social media coordinator.

While we adhere to a policy of nondiscrimination, we limit membership to high school students only. Our intention of this policy is to ensure one common similarity of age among our diverse coalition of members. We also champion principles of professionalism, respect, civility, and charity in conjunction with a functional environment for open communication.

As of May 2021, the club is still in a formative stage and has yet to establish a definitive list of members. Our goal is to gradually strengthen relationships with local law firms and professionals. We also plan to one day expand into neighboring communities to share the possibilities of bringing together America's future leaders with everyone.
