Personal Mission Statement

 

I, Donoven McAlister, will strive to live as a person of integrity in moments seen and unseen. I will follow Jesus’s final commandment to love each other as he would have done. Through inevitable mistakes, I will persevere and strive to be a heroic role model of persistence, determination, and justice for those around me. I will also be true to my genetic and personal identity and my beliefs as the ancient Apollonian maxim declares, as well as embracing all things in moderation. In accordance with my alma mater, Loyola High School, I will also make continuous conscious efforts to be a Man for and with Others by extending my abilities to people and causes in need. Lastly, I will always strive to improve my skills, acknowledging my strengths and amending my weaknesses. I will be a man honest with myself and with God—the only audience of ultimate importance—because my ultimate goal is to be a human worthy of clear and positive remembrance after death.

    As a spiritual leader in-the-making, I will strive to constantly improve myself by devoting myself to other people. I will strive to find a healthy balance between owing my best efforts to both myself and to other people. I will try to put those of a rank below mine at the top of the pyramid and internalize the archetype of the “servant leader” that Jesus originally modeled. I acknowledge that the servant leader model is the future of leadership because it reflects promising potential for creating a society without disparities between servants and leaders.
